Ducks made a foray into Breakfast at the Luna Grill & Diner this morning. We chose to accompany us a random Israeli named Moshe. He is a writer, a Key man, and Keren's father in addition to being a kind, loving, intelligent, and interesting character.
Being inside this establishment is rather like being in a dollhouse with bright colors on the walls and eclectic art hanging randomly. Yes, Keren and my dollhouses were indie. Being in Dupont circle or rather being just-before-reaching-Dupont circle, this place can only have a just-before-reaching-Indie vibe. But we doubled it.
(Oooh, sooo Indie!)
Keren ordered the Kathleen's Choice: it was a very good portion, esp the half slab of Philly cream cheese. They had a diced tomato salad underneath lox with capers and onions.
Moshe got the breakfast sandwich sans meat and plus a tomato slice. The plus-slice cost an extra $0.75 however, which in all our opinions should not be the going rate of one slice (or perhaps even a whole) of tomato.
Leah got an omelet with feta, spinach and onion, which was delicioso! Ay! Que fantastico!
The coffee was slightly burned, but still effective. And the home-fries were especially awesome.
In fact, I learned something about potatoes:
Apparently all the good potatoes from Idaho are flash frozen and sent to the east coast. So when you go to Idaho, their potatoes are terrible and the servers are extremely embarrassed about serving them. If you want good potatoes, no need to travel to the midwest, just go to Jersey!
We were all satisfied with our breakfast foodstuffs, so we spent most of the time exchanging dirty jokes and swearing.
Why don't they teach Drivers Ed and Sex Ed on the same day in Mexico?
Answer: Too much on the donkey.
Yes, it's gross and probably very politically incorrect, but such is the nature of private conversations in the morning.
All in all, Luna is 3 out of 5 QUACKS. So it was pretty much Maintenance sex... (refer to side bar welcome for clarification.)
